Beverly Hooks, author of Come Walk with Me, will read and discuss her book about journal writing at 1 p.m. on Oct. 22 at in Kirkland.

Steve Inskeep, host of National Public Radio’s Morning Edition and author of Instant City: Life and Death in Karachi, will read from his new book at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Town Hall Seattle.

Michael Ondaatje, author of the acclaimed The English Patient, will read from his new novel, The Cat's Table, 7 p.m., Oct. 24, at the Seattle Public Library, downtown branch.

Stacy Schiff, author of last year's biography, Cleopatra, will appear at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, part of the Seattle Arts & Lectures series.
