Pooches at the Park

Go Dog, Go! Canine Festival drew large crowds of dogs and enthusiastic owners.

A symphony of yips, arrfs, woofs and barks surrounded dog enthusiasts at Saturday's Kirkland Canine Festival "Go Dog, Go!" In the lawn across from Juanita Beach, tents holding a variety of dogwares including bones, gourmet treats, leashes and cages sat elbow to elbow with behavioral specialists, pet photographers and dog adoption kiosks.

A Boston Terrier took home the gold medal for best costume (Alice in Wonderland) in the Canine Costume Contest. Other fun events included the Highest Jumper Contest and the Look Alike Contest, where pet owners did their best doggie impressions. Behavioral specialists were available throughout the day and an expert from the Redmond-Kirkland Animal Hospital took questions from the crowd. The Pooch Smooch concluded the day's events on a loving, but slobbery, note.
