You claim the legislature added $1.6 billion to basic ed. But, the Supreme Court seems to disagree with you. They acknowledge only $982 million and point out that this figure is debatable. You claim the per pupil allocation in 2013-15 is $7,279 and that this is a record high. OSPI reports the 2013-15 allocation per pupil at $6,817. I’m still researching the “record high” comment. I’m glad you acknowledge that $3400 in additional funds from local and federal tax payers and other sources are acquired. It those local fund spent on basic education to which the Supreme Court objects. I’m puzzled by your comment, “… judges … proposed detailed spending increases of their own.”. I can only find estimates from the Joint Task Force on Education Funding’s comments about what it would take in future biennial budgets. Perhaps you’d be willing to share what you claim the court proposed? Then Att. Gen. Rob McKenna , during his campaign for governor, proposed diverting increased revenue, as the state’s economy recovered, into funding education. He proposed neither cuts nor tax increases. It’s unclear if the court is prepared to wait that long and the beneficiaries of programs that would not see their funding increased to pre-recession levels would probably argue that those were cuts. That was merely an effort to help readers understand how long this process of has been going on before the law was passed in 2010. Civil service reform ended a century of corruption in government hiring & firing practices. Would you have us return to nepotism, selling government jobs, racial & gender discrimination, and the plethora of other abuses? As for "inmates running the asylum", to compare education professional to inmates of an asylum is abusive.

You denigrated (an old propaganda technique) my comments and me by suggesting I want to return to “nepotism, selling government jobs, racial & gender discrimination, and the plethora of other abuses?” which of course I don’t. Further, I certainly don’t consider all “Education Professionals” (EP)s as “inmates of an asylum”. Come on, you must be familiar with the expression to know it’s implication of managers unable to manage because the “crazies” they are charged with “managing” the institution. There is strong evidence our educational institutes are being influenced/controlled by people who are purposefully sabotaging administration efforts by supporting Inept Education Professionals (IEP)s. I know EPs who quietly abhor and hopelessly tolerate what they see as IEPs are moved from one school to another or other attempts to hide them because it is nearly impossible to purge the system of IEPs. For many, the labor/management pendulum has swung way out of control. If something isn’t done to manage these issues, voters are going to become more resistant to voting for levies, and will: • Fill school board meetings • Support legislation correcting situation • Vote with their feet, moving to communities where effective courageous administrators can manage the schools • Transfer their children to private schools, charter schools or home school their offspring. Continuing to support present hiring and firing practices is perhaps EP, peer, administration, support personnel, instructional aids, students, parents, community, education and taxpayer abuse.
