Play Ball! Junior Softball World Series Begins Today in Kirkland

Sunday, Aug. 11 marks the start of the World Series of Junior Softball at Kirkland's Everest Park.

The Junior Softball World Series kicks off today at Kirkland's Everest Park, 600 8th St S. Teams from all over the world are here to compete for Junior Softball's championship title.

Games begin at 8:45 and 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, and the opening ceremonies will take place from noon to 1 p.m.

  • CANADA: Windsor South Little League from Windsor, Ontario defeated Victoria, British Columbia in the Canada Regional Tournament in St. John, New Brunswick.
  • EAST: West Cumberland Little League from Cumberland County, New Jersey edged Mystic/Groton, Connecticut, 9-8, in the East Regional championship game.
  • CENTRAL: Canfield Little League from Canfield, Ohio squeezed by Michigan, 2-1, to win the Central Regional championship game.
  • WEST: Gilroy Little League from Gilroy, Calif., defeated Montana to earn the West Regional championship.
  • Host (District 9, Washington, U.S.): Kirkland National/American Little League, Kirkland, Wash.
