Summerfest Essentials: What's Up in Kirkland
Summerfest continues through Sunday, Aug. 11.
Don't miss summerfest, Kirkland's weekend celebration of summer, which benefits the Lake Washington School District. We can't think of any better way to support kids than by having some family fun at the waterfront.
We asked organizers what some of the highlights are, and here are just a few of the fun things you can expect:
- Radio Disney will be on hand and there are more rides for the kids this year, including a giant cyclone swing and a huge trampoline where you can bounce two stories high (safely tethered, of course). Plus a circus train will make it's way around in front of Hector's
- Seattle dragon boats, 20 men and a drummer, will be giving people to opportunity to ride as well. Registration and lessons begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.
- The "International" Moss Bay Cardboard Boat Regata--the inventor of the cardboard boat is coming down to judge the contest--is certain to be a kick in the boat at its premiere this year.
- On Sunday, some familiar faces from Star Wars--or dress-alikes,anyway--will be at the festival for photos and fun.
