Snow Kirkland Style! Washington Style!

Winter has arrived in the Northwest. Snow may have started last Saturday, I am getting a little foggy about when it started. It sure is beautiful, what a picturesque setting we live in.

WINTER HAS ARRIVED in the Northwest. Snow may have started last Saturday, I am getting a little foggy about when it started. It sure is beautiful, what a picturesqe setting we live in. As a little child in the 70's , we waited and waited patiently for snow from Thanksgiving on! Snow arrived in the night and we awoke to the happiest sight. Luscious snow! Piles of it!

We waited for the TV (ch 5) to let us know we had NO SCHOOL!! All three of us kids perched on the couch. We sledded to our hearts content. We were not the family that had ski pants, so we were in jeans, happy as clams! My pal and I jumped on my Dad's tobagan, it was 30 years old then!! It was super fast. Bliss, bliss!!

Snow changes as you grow!  I work at the school district, so I raced home on Tuesday as fast as I could. The thing with weather like this is you really don't know how much and for how long. The sweet weather guys try and try. Our "convergence" zone is hard to figure.  Sledding worked the first day off work for my kids. Then we tried out the Bus! Metro! We figured out the cost. We boarded on 84th on Finn Hill and off we went.

It was a very happy ride. Very cozy. Not for one minute was I concerned. Juanita Drive had tons of snow on the road. Wow!! We landed in Downtown by the lovely library and decided to look around town. Lots of businesses were closed. The restaurant and bars were open! My kind of town! We had lunch at "." Great food, very fun to people watch. We browsed around after lunch and thought for a moment to stop by the . Kirkland was very pretty and so quaint in the snow! The bus ride home was quck and so beautiful to look out the window.

As the week has soldiered on, no work for me Wed, Thurs, Friday! The kids have lost their appeal. Board games are a choice, but no thanks.  I am even a bit sick of naps! Sheesh! Then the word came we will be getting warmer temps, like really warmer temps! This sweet three days of no work and no appointments is about over. I will NOT be sorry to see the snow GONE!! But the slower pace was and is nice!
