Thanksgiving Weekend!!

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

DURING THIS this time of year, I think about Thanksgiving weekend. I do have a few thoughts. OK, so if you heading out of town to another person's home, here are a few muses.

  • Leave early to get to the destination. I would factor in any stops. Like if you have little kids, this is a must. If you are a family that DOES NOT use car seats I would think a stop for every 200 miles would be cool. That may be too long, but what do I know?
  • Don't don't arrive too early to your destination as they may be in the middle of cleaning out the icebox.
  • As you are arriving later than sooner, bring more food and drink than you should. The host will be in your debt forever, and that is a good place to be!
  • Bring liquor but don't have too much. It never works out to come to some family members home and get hammered!!
  • I love this rule: Don't argue about what the homeowners are watching on TV. If it is football, love love football! If it is Footloose, love Footloose! If it is the Westminster Dog Show, fall in love with dogs. I think this can be the most fun of the day!! Just saying.
  • Now we are to the food part of the day, hmmm, well most every family TRIES out a new RECIPE  on Thanksgiving, eeek! Just take a bite, hum a little, and choke it down. I am sure it is so yucky, but they did work on this most of the morning.
  • We are now to the pie part of our lives. I can take or leave pies, EXCEPT at this time of year! Don't rush the host for whip cream, take whatever size they give you. It may be to big or too little, but it is very very likely you can have a 2nd piece in 6 minutes.
  • Leave shortly after the dessert is served, as this is a marathon day for the hostess and host. Meet them at the Best-Buy on Friday. Hope you have a great holiday!
