Bill Petter Memorial Scholarship for Transportation Technology
Kirkland Kiwanis Foundation unveiled their new scholarship program named in honor of Bill Petter, a prominent Kirkland businessman, philanthropist, and long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Kirkland.
"It was a tragic loss to the community when Bill Petter passed away in 2011, and a real blow to the Kiwanis Club of Kirkland", stated Jay Henwood, current club president. "And now, thanks to the generosity of the Petter family, we are now able to offer a scholarship program in Bill's memory that will benefit not only the individual recipients, but also the community. This would make Bill very happy".
Throughout his life, Bill Petter had been involved in various facets of the automotive industry, so the Kirkland Kiwanis Foundation decided that the best way to honor Bill was to offer scholarships to selected graduating seniors in Lake Washington School District high schools who want to pursue careers in the field of Transportation Technology offered by the Lake Washington Institute of Technology.
