Council Member Toby Nixon completes AWC leadership training program

Kirkland City Council Member Toby Nixon recently received a Certificate of Municipal Leadership (CML) from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) for completing over 30 hours of training credits.  The CML program is designed to enhance the ability of elected municipal officials by providing knowledge and skills to effectively operate within the law, plan for the future, secure and manage funds, and foster community and staff relationships. To earn this certificate, the official attends a variety of AWC sponsored municipal workshops.  The course helps the mayors and councilmembers learn the essentials of municipal service and improve their ability to work with council colleagues, city staff, and citizens.

Council Member Toby Nixon began his first term on the Kirkland City Council in January 2012 (Position No. 4). He currently serves on the Council Public Safety Committee and is Chair of Tourism Development Committee.  He also serves on the Suburban Cities Association (SCA) Public Issues Committee. He has lived in the Kingsgate neighborhood (now Evergreen Hill) since 1993.
