King County and Seattle Public Utilities Reward Residents for Composting 350,000 Tons at Curbside

Today King County, Seattle Public Utilities and Cedar Grove are thanking local residents for keeping 350,000 tons of food and yard waste out of the landfills this year. Together, they’ve kicked off Compostival!, which rewards residents with a number of thank you prizes, including free pizza, compost, even premium pro football tickets.

Scratch tickets are available at Zeeks Pizza from today through Oct. 17 with gifts redeemable through Oct. 31. Every ticket also comes with a coupon for a free bag of compost with the purchase of two bags.

Why compost in the fall? Most people don’t know it, but fall is just the right time to be working in the garden.
