Kirkland’s options for tree-cycling

Waste Management will collect Christmas trees free of charge between January 2 and 17, 2014.  Trees must be no more than six (6) feet in length; larger trees should be cut in half to meet the length requirement.  Also, trees must be un-flocked and undecorated.  For single family residents, place your tree at the curb before 7 a.m. on your regular service day.  For apartment and condo residents, place your tree next to your property’s garbage dumpster. Apartment/condo complexes located west of I-405 and north of Forbes Creek Drive or east of I-405 and north of 116th Street will be receive tree collection on Mondays and Thursdays.  Apartment/condo complexes located west of I-405 and south of Forbes Creek Drive or east of I-405 and south of 116th Street will receive tree collection on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you have any questions or to check your property’s pick-up day, contact Waste Management at 1-800-592-9995 or the Kirkland Recycling Hotline at 425-587-3812.

Kirkland residents may also wish to consider Boy Scout Troop 570’s Christmas Tree Pickup and Recycling Event to be held on Saturday, January 4 and Sunday, January 5, 2014.  Each day between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., residents may place their trees at the curb for pick-up or drop off their trees at McAuliffe Park at 10824 NE 116th Street. Trees will be mulched for use by the Kirkland Parks Department.  For more information on curbside pick-up areas and a suggested donation, please visit www.troop570.org.
