A nationally-ranked decathlete and 2010 graduate of Lake Washington High School in Kirkland has been awarded academic and sports scholarships at Idaho State University.
Jarell Betton graduated from Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona last year. Betton was a member of the Aztec’s track and field squad, participating in high jump, shot put, discus, long jump, pole vault, hurdles, and dash competitions. Betton was team captain and in January ranked fourth in the nation as a heptathlon competitor.
At the National Junior College Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Competition held in May in Hutchinson, Kansas, Betton took ninth in the decathlon competition.
