Deck the Streets! Juanita Neighborhood Association to String Lights Sunday

The association needs volunteers on the Sunday after Thanksgiving for what it believes is the first holiday decorating effort in downtown Juanita, followed by a tree-lighting ceremony and lunch from local restaurants.

Members of the Juanita Neighborhood Association are seeking volunteers to help decorate and string lights at Juanita Village on Sunday morning - perhaps the first such holiday effort there ever.

“We’ve been working really closely this year with a lot of the merchants in Juanita Village,” said Karissa Johnson, association secretary. “The current plan is for a series of trees along 98th (the main arterial through downtown Juanita) to be decorated using LED lights.”

The association hopes to start a tradition, making the effort an annual event, and at the end of the work party the tree will be lit in a brief ceremony.

Juanita Village merchants participating include Padria Mediterranean Cafe, Brix restaurant, Garlic Jim’s, Starbucks and the Avalon Bay condominium complex, along with Fred Meyer up the hill to the east.

Volunteers will meet at the Avalon Bay resident room (bear the village fountain) at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 for pastries and coffee, then string the lights from 10 to noon. Refreshments will be served after the work party at the Avalon Bay resident room.

“What we really need is people with ladders,” said Johnson.

Thanks Patch! I want to add we've now confirmed donations from additional Juanita businesses, including Juanita Collision, QFC, Starbuck's, Mezcal Grill, garlic Jim's gourmet pizza, and Massage Envy of Kirkland! that list may even be bigger by Sunday, we have such an amazing response from neighbors, friends and all our Juanita businesses supporting this endeavor! We've also got a little "raffle" going for folks who RSVP via our facebook page, Massage Envy will enter them for a $50 gift card toward a massage! After all the decorating, that might be just what the Doctor ordered!
