Deer Wanders Juanita Beach Park

On her way to work this morning, Juanita resident Morgan Johnston saw this black-tailed deer and sent Kirkland Patch some photos.

Many Juanita residents are reporting increased sightings of native black-tailed deer in recent months, including this doe that wandered through Tuesday morning.

Morgan Johnston, daughter-in-law of Kirkland Patch editor Greg Johnston, saw the deer and took the attached photos.

Deer are not the only native wildlife seen in Kirkland this year. A black bear was spotted on Rose Hill last spring.

A cougar was apparently spotted in recently, and might have been the same one that was seen in Bothell and Medina and then was hit by a car and killed in Bellevue. .

Bobcats and coyotes are seen with some frequency in the wooded areas of town, and beavers and otters are common in some of the city's waterfront parks.
