Happy 12-12-12! What Are You Doing Today?

Sammamish-Issaquah Patch users shared some of their special plans and celebrations with us. What are yours?

It's all in a number.

Who doesn't remember where they were on 9-11, or at the start of 1981?

Personally, I remember writing 9-9-81 on my papers, and my teacher talking about it in class (I think I was in fourth grade, but don't make me confirm my age!).

Today is the last day for the rest of this century that a month and year can coincide exactly like this.

Worldwide, weddings are being planned for 12 noon, and you can bet some people are trying to have their babies on this day.

Last week, Redmond Patch editor interviewed Issaquah couple Joey Earls, 27, and Terron Watson, 33, who were among dozens lined up in Seattle at midnight Dec. 6 for marriage licenses under Washington's Marriage Equality law. The couple said they plan to hold their wedding ceremony on 12-12-12.

Numerologists consider 12 an auspicious number, because when added together, the digits equal 3. Even if that's not your speed, we love numbers, and math, and ritual, making 12-12-12 the triple threat of cool days. We'll never have a 13-13-13, after all.

Here are some more ways the day is special in the Sammamish-Issaquah area, courtesy our Facebook fans:

  • Janet Ritchie said: I am graduating from nursing school tomorrow night.
  • Silke Weckenmann Coombs' son, Max, is turning 12 on 12-12-12!
  • From Elena Blume: "We're gonna watch 12-12-12 Sandy Relief Concert Will Be Largest Event in Music History. Through live streams and social media, "12.12.12 The Concert for Sandy Relief" will reach more people than any other music event in history."
  • Holly Delgado Nakashima said, "My birthday is 12-12-12. Woot!!!"
  • Linda Borra Milan's daughter is celebratory her birthday in Issaquah today!

What will you be doing to mark the occasion? Upload your photos and tell us what makes 12-12-12 special for you.
