PHOTO GALLERY: Kirkland's Fourth of July Parades and Duck Dash

Big crowds turn out downtown in perfect weather for the city's signature summertime celebration.

Several thousand residents and guests turned out out under clear blue skies Monday for Kirkland's annual Fourth of July celebration -- two festive, patriotic "red, white and blue" parades and the Rotary Club's annual Duck Dash.

Spectators covered virtually every spot of the sidewalks along the parade route downtown, starting on Market Street and then heading east up Central Way, south on Main Street and then west down Kirkland Avenue to .

The festivities began with a kids parade, followed by an old-fashioned, patriotic Fourth of July parade. Sponsored by Celebrate Kirkland, the festivities were to culminate Monday night with a spectacular fireworks show.

If you missed the parade and the Duck Dash -- a major fundraiser for the Kirkland Rotary Club -- check it out here in our photo gallery.

Happy Fourth of July!

Hopelink's actions mandating Section 8 housing went too far. Sorry, you are off our list ofRead More organizations to support even though the support before was robust. City council listened to organized carpetbaggers and not the citizens they are sworn to represent. All that can be replaced need to go at the next election Hopelink needs to find folks to contribute who have not been done wrong by this organization.
