UPDATE: Lights Back On At 8:20 a.m.; Second Power Outage Hits Finn Hill/Juanita Area

Electricity went out again just after midnight during a heavy rain after loud noises were heard, and it remains out Tuesday morning.

UPDATE: Power restored at 8:20 a.m.

At least several hundred homes and businesses in the Juanita/Finn Hill area of Kirkland were without power Tuesday morning after an early morning outage. It was the second power outage in the area in less than 24 hours.

High winds blew down a tree on a transmission line Monday evening about 6, but crews had that repaired by 9:15 p.m.

Then early Tuesday around 12:30 a.m. during a heavy downpour, four loud humming noises were heard by many residents, the power went off and on, and then out.

Allison Stanford, Puget Sound Energy spokeswoman, said Tuesday morning that she had no specifics about the outage, but that fewer than 2,000 PSE customers were still without power throughout the company’s service area.

“Crews are working to restore power, with just a few remaining outages in north King County and the Juanita areas, and Kitsap County,” she said. “It’s been a large effort since the winds began (Monday) afternoon. We’re working as hard as we can to get power restored.”

She had no estimate of when power would be restored in the Juanta/Finn Hill area.

Many area residents speculated that a transformer blew somewhere along Juanita Drive because of the loud noises in the area that preceded the outage.
