VIDEO: Redmond Teens, Seniors Harvest Community Garden

Organizers say they hope the inter-generational project is a first step toward getting local youth and senior citizens to collaborate on more community service efforts.

Several weeks of hard work and patience began to pay off Thursday as a small group of volunteers began to harvest a fresh crop of vegetables in the greenhouse at the .

The new project brought local senior citizens and teenagers together to plant and maintain the garden, which includes lettuce, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, onions, cabbage and other vegetables. All of the harvested vegetables will go to 's food bank.
