If you need a kid-free escape, but don’t think one night will get the job done, consider taking a weekly class at Kirkland Arts Center. Located in the historic Peter Kirk building on Market Street, KAC provides an array of engaging art classes and workshops to get your creative juices flowing. Whether it helps you discover your inner Picasso or simply provides a stimulating diversion from your daily to-do list, KAC classes may be the great escape you’re looking for.

Tired of cleaning muddy tracks every time the kids come in the house? Give into it and get your hands dirty as you learn to sculpt clay in a clay class. Think coloring and painting are reserved for the kids in your house? Rediscover your inner artist with a painting or drawing class.

KAC offers a variety of classes for first-time students, including drawing, watercolor, acrylic, clay, print-making and art basics. Additional one- and two-day workshops offer students intensive learning opportunities on topics ranging from oil painting and portrait drawing to ceramic surface decorating and precious metal clay charms. More advanced classes are available for students with a specific focus or those who have taken previous classes.

Spring classes begin in April and KAC is now enrolling students. Click here to view the Spring course catalog.

So go ahead. Get out of the house …  not once, but once a week. Whether you’re learning a new skill or practicing an old one, enjoy the all-consuming focus and creative release art provides. This week (er, season), enjoy a Great Escape to Kirkland Arts Center.
