Appalachian Treasures: The Struggle to Save the Heart of Appalachia

On Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 7:30 PM Kirkland Congregational Church will host a lecture entitled "Appalachian Treasures: The Struggle to Save the Heart of Appalachia."  This event is free and open to the public.

Mountaintop removal is a form of mining that severely affects the land and traditions of the people of Appalachia. The presenters of this lecture will detail the struggle to protect homes, families and the mountains themselves from the irreversible destruction caused by mountaintop removal coal mining.
