Keister, McBeth Bringing Northwest Comic Craziness to Kirkland May 3

In an almost-reunion of "Almost Live," John Keister of the Seattle comedy scene and professional touring standup comic Brooks McBeth plan to rock K-Town next month with an edgy act.

Editor's note: George's in Kirkland is hosting a pre-funk/autograph party with John Keister and Brooks McBeth before the show on Friday, May 3rd starting at 6 p.m.

If you take Brooks McBeth's word for it, you're in for a seriously funny standup show at the Kirkland Performance Center next month.

"Keister and I are going to blow the doors off the Kirkland Performance Center," McBeth told Patch in a phone interview.

Though he's usually joking, that's one line that's totally believable.

McBeth, a Renton-raised professional comic who cut his teeth on Almost Live with Keister & Co., now tours with Joel McHale--another Almost Live alum--as McHale's fulltime opening act.

For this special one-night Kirkland gig on May 3, however, McBeth and Keister will team up--along with one or more as yet-unnanounced surprise performers--for a night of adult-themed standup humor.

"It's very edgy, adult content—what a great way to bond with your grandparents," McBeth quips.

Though McBeth goes everywhere, he loves to get back on home turf, with plenty of Eastside issues always ripe for the picking.

"I look forward to the Northwest shows," McBeth says. "The great thing is we’re all Northwest guys, so we make fun of the Northwest as well as making fun of ourselves."

The resurgence of the Almost Live crew with the new The 206 has brought them all firmly back into the spotlight, and the show was so popular that the cast has been busily taping a whole season's worth of shows, which McBeth says will begin airing this month.

This show is sure to be as wildly popular as it is wild, so buy tickets ahead of time ($20 each) at the Kirkland Performance Center Website here. And prepare for the doors to be blown off.
