Kirkland ArtWalk

  • Where/When: Downtown Kirkland galleries and shops, plus , Friday, typically 5-9 p.m.
  • Why Go: During this ArtWalk, the , a Kirkland institution of 21 years, celebrates its anniversary with a reception, 6-9 p.m. Also, from 5-9 p.m., Kirkland Patch's food, dining and arts columnist Julie Arnan, a talented artist in her own right, will be talking shop at , where she is exhibiting several of her oil paintings this month. In addition, you'll find other artists demonstrating and chatting, and live music.

  • Where/When: KPC Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Why Go: A 10-day run of Seattle International Film Festival screenings wraps up at Kirkland Performance Center with the following showings. Friday: Grandma, A Thousand Times (5 p.m.); Win/Win (7 p.m) and On the Ice (9 p.m.); Saturday: A Thousand Times Stronger (1 p.m.); The Majority (3:30 p.m.); A Few Days of Respite (6 p.m.) and Mamas & Papas (8:30 p.m.) Sunday: Princess (1 p.m.); Kosmos (3:30 p.m.); Silent Soul (6:15 p.m,) and Jucy (8:30 p.m.

Issaquah Dance Theatre Presents Alice in Wonderland

  • Where/When: Noon and 4 p.m. Saturday at the 
  • Why Go: If your only experience with Alice and the white rabbit has been in the movies, you're missing out. This family-friendly, abbreviated version of the storybook classic promises to bring Alice's adventures to life in a whole new way.

Redmond Historical Society's Annual Picnic

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 
  • Why Go: Nothing says old-fashioned fun like a town picnic, especially if ice cream and fiddling are involved. Join the Redmond Historical Society at Anderson Park this Saturday for an afternoon of food, friends and music from the Old Time Fiddlers. You can also buy a raffle ticket for your chance to win a handmade quilt that showcases Redmond's historic past.

RAC to Redhook Fitness Run

  • Why Go: If you're anything like me, you believe the best reward for a serious workout session is a hearty meal and hoppy beverage to offset all those calories you've just burned off. The RAC to Redhook Fitness Run makes that arrangement extra easy by putting runners on a flat, 4.5-mile course leading directly to a brewery. Even better, there's a fun fitness challenge at each mile marker, and proceeds benefit .

Goose Bumps! The Science Of  Fear

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Pacific Science Center, 200 Second Avenue North, Seattle
  • Why Go: 'Cause it’s all about phobias — coulrophobia, pyrophobia, or aviophobia (the fear of clowns, fire and flying). Saturday is the first day of the new exhibit, which explains what happens to our bodies when fear kicks in.
