21 Acres Expands Staff, Plans to Expand Programs

21 Acres Center for Local Food and Sustainable Living in Woodinville has expanded its staff in order to offer more programs to the community.

 

 in Woodinville has added additional staff to further the nonprofit’s mission to educate the public and potential farmers on sustainable food production, to have a model farm and have a retail outlet with locally sourced produce and products.

Since the opening of the center’s main building in August, 21 Acres has classroom space, a commercial kitchen, and retail space as well as the farm in the Sammamish Valley just east of Kirkland.

Gill Dey is the new Culinary Classes director. She has more than 25 years’ experience as a food writer, cookbook author and magazine editor.

Robin Crowder is the new Marketing and Development Director. She comes from the University of North Carolina, where she directed research related to local foods, agriculture and economic impact projects addressing health disparities. She also managed the farmers market in Bellingham.

Cat Brimhall is the retail manager and will be overseeing the opening of the 21 Acres store this May. The store will feature seasonal, locally sourced produce and agricultural products. She had been produce manager of the Sno-Isle Natural Food Co-op in Everett,

John Eizuka is manager of the 21 Acres Farm; he has been working in the Sammamish Valley for more than a decade as the Operational Field Manager for the Root Connection.

Carlos Mendoza is the new facilities manager. His primary responsibilities include maintenance indoors and out, the landscaping and making sure all systems are running properly.

Deb Sternagel is the center’s administrator and events coordinator.
