Creative Force Behind Skillet Street Food Taking Over Woodinville's Hollywood Tavern

Woodinville's Hollywood Tavern will close in the next week and re-emerge in the spring as a cheeseburger and whiskey tavern.

If you want a to have a beer at the Hollywood Tavern in Woodinville, you better stop in over the next few days.

That's because the historic watering hole will close "sometime in the next week," tavern staff told Patch Tuesday, to make way for a new bar and eatery in the space.

It's the latest venture for Josh Henderson, the founder and chef of Skillet Street Food. He said this summer he would be a partner in a new tavern in Woodinville, but at the time wouldn't give the location.

He told Seattle Weekly that "there will be whiskey, cornhole, and cheeseburgers and it will be an awesome place to hang out outside in the wine country during the summer and also winter, as we'll have an outdoor fire pit."

The building is a Woodinville mainstay that opened as a gas station in the early 1920s. It was turned into a tavern in the early 1940s, going by the name of Mabel's before it became Hollywood Tavern.

Henderson created Skillet Street Food in Seattle in 2007. Out of a vintage Airstream trailer, he serves American-inspired food prepared with classic technique and seasonal ingredients.

Skillet’s Airstream can generally be seen in Woodinville about once a month, Henderson told Patch last year (read that story here), with the schedule often changing at the last minute. You can find the location of the trailer throughout the week on Skillet’s website and Twitter and Facebook pages.
