SR 522 Traffic Alert: Both Lanes to be Closed Sunday in Echo Lake Area

Crews working for the Washington Department of Transportation will be doing blasting work as part of the on-going widening project of SR 522 and US 2.

Heads up for regular drivers of State Route 522: As part of the ongoing widening project, both lanes of that major arterial will be closed Sunday in the Echo Lake area on Sunday, April 7, from 7 a.ml to 11 a.m.

Specifically, 522 will be closed between 164th Street Southeast and Fales/Echo Lake roads for blasting work to remove rock and soil by crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation. The actual blasting will be from 7:15 am. to 7:30 a.m., and nearby residents might hear warning horns and whistles.

The detour route (see attached map) will be signed, but long. It will use State Route 9 and US 2 and will add 10 miles and about 20 minutes of travel time, depending on the destination and traffic.

SR 522, of course, is a major travel route for residents from Lake Forest Park, Bothell and Kirkland heading to destinations such as Stevens Pass and Leavenwroth.
