Summer Crush Shave Ice Closed by Health Department

The Hawaiian shaved ice stand near Kirkland's Peter Kirk Pool was closed for having no hand washing facility and no valid permit.

Summer Crush Shave Ice, located at 380 Kirkland Ave in Kirkland was closed by a Public Health food inspector on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013 at 11:40 am. Summer Crush had been serving Hawaiian Ice desserts by the Peter Kirk Pool for a number of years, at least between 2007 and 2010, and has been a popular concession, according to previous Kirkland Park Board minutes.

The concession stand was closed by Public Health for the following food safety violations:

  • Imminent health hazard, no hand wash facility provided
  • Failing to obtain a valid permit to operate
  • Failing to obtain valid plan review approval

The establishment will be reopened once the inspector confirms all issues have been resolved. The Food Establishment Closures homepage is online at www.kingcounty.gov/health/closures
