Surprise! Wilde Rover Wins Patch Readers' Choice Poll

Kirkland's only Irish bar easily wins our poll as best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Well, we sort of knew going into this week’s Readers’ Choice poll that one spot had a lock on winning the shamrock for best place in Kirkland to party down on St. Paddy’s Day.

If you’re the only Irish bar in town -- especially such a lively and happening place as it is -- how could you not win?

So we need no drum roll to announce that the , the best place to down a pint ’o Guinness west of the Sammamish Slough, east of Lake Washington and betwixt Bellevue and Bothell, has won this week’s poll.

Wethinks the Rover slam-dunk also played a roll in the minimal number of votes in this week’s poll -- just 16. The Rover took nine of ‘em. But man, you can get Guinness on tap at the and good old is Kirkland’s traditional party place!

I’m sure there’s an appropriate limerick from Limerick to insert here, but ah well, let’s just shrug it off. Anyway, your friendly editor and friends will hoist pints of congratulations to the Wilde Rover at the Wilde Rover after Saturday’s morning’s -- won’t you join us?

But right now, let’s move on down the Readers’ Choice road and ponder next week’s poll: The best place in Kirkland for kids to learn the martial arts.

A story announcing the new poll will post here at 5 a.m. on Monday. We've already begun compiling our list of martial arts academies and dojangs, but will gladly accept nominations for places to put on our poll. Please email the editor, Greg.Johnston@Patch.com, or let us know on Facebook.

In the City of Kirkland you need a City-issued business license to do Door-to-door solicitation. IRead More am willing to bet they did not have the license. Call the police next time.
