Kirkland's Loss: Brew Fest Leaving Saint Ed's, Moving to Marymoor Next Month

The three-day event has outgrown Saint Edward State Park and is expected to draw 15,000 people to Redmond's Marymoor Park over Father's Day weekend.

Kirkland-area ale-lovers are losing one of their favorite local events, with the 2012 Washington Brewers Festival, tradtionally at on Father's Day Weekend, moving to Redmond's this year.

Held at Saint Ed's on the Kirkland/Kenmore border atop Finn Hill for six of the last seven years, the festival is setting up shop at Marymoor because it offers a more central location and space for the growing event, said Eric Radovich, executive director of the Washington Beer Commission.

“We’re growing, and the opportunity to showcase our great brewers and beers to some new folks (at Marymoor) is also a part of it,” Radovich said.

Radovich said organizers expect approximately 15,000 people to attend this year's festival, which takes place June 15-17. Advance tickets are available online now for $20.

The number of Washington breweries at the festival will be increasing this year, from about 50 last year to 60 in 2012. Radovich said a list of participating brewers will be released sometime next week.

Also new this year will be three gourmet food trucks—, Lumpia World and Jerk Station, in addition to the festival's regular food offerings.

The event will remain family friendly, with a kids' play area and all-ages admission on Saturday and Sunday. Other returning features include a cider and wine tasting area and live music performances.
