BBQ/Open House at LW High; Kids Concert at Marina Park

Things you might want to know today, Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011.

  • The Rotary Club of Kirkland Downtown is sponsoring a blood drive, 8:30-11 a.m. and 12-2:30 p.m., near the Parkplace entrance at Central Way. You can simply show up for this most worthy cause, but are encouraged to call and sign up, 425-455 0156.
  • The Junior Softball World Series continues at as compete in this tournament of champions. Games commence at noon and play continues until dark. Admission is free.
  • is extending the community an invite to an open house and BBQ to view the sophisticated, newly constructed school house today from 4-7 p.m. Come for the food (served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and stay for the architecture with this one day, all access pass to LWHS and .
  • Ready for a day of music, skits, poetry and puppetry? Well, round up the kids and head to to see elementary school teacher turned entertainer Eric Ode perform songs and poems with titles like “I’ve Been Burping in the Classroom.” Grammy-nominated Ode will be perform at 10 a.m. as a part of the Kirkland Summer Concert Series, from July 5 to Aug. 25.
