The weekend is fast approaching and you've earned some "me time," but haven't had a minute to consider just what to do. Kirkland Patch has got you covered. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new establishments to explore.

 

  • Where/When: 6-8 p.m. Fri, Oct. 14 at in Kirkland.
  • Why Go: The Northwest Collage Society is hosting an artist Reception for their new fall exhibit at Parklane Gallery this Friday. Mingle with the featured artists as you view the stunning painting, printmaking, graphics, glass, sculpture, fiber and mixed media pieces. Can't make it this Friday? You can still check out exhibit anytime between now and Nov. 6.
  • Cost: Free.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Sat, Oct. 15 at in Kirkland.
  • Why Go: Join SHOES, a non-profit organization that strives to provide shoes to those in need for a walk along the Kirkland waterfront this Saturday. By participating in this 5K walk you'll be helping SHOES reach their goal of providing shoes for an entire village in the Phillippines.
  • Cost: Registration is $30. Northwest University students with student ID will receive a discounted price of $15. All proceeds for this event will benefit a community in the Philippines.

  • Why Go: This is your last weekend to catch Lyric Light Opera's production of The Music Man at the KPC. Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, The Music Man offers a warm-hearted, funny and family friendly performance that features the beloved songs Seventy-Six Trombones, 'Till There Was You, Lida Rose and many more. Enjoy the show!
  • Cost: Tickets range from $35 - $37.

 

  • Where/When: 5-8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday at in Bellevue.
  • Why Go: Explore a treasure trove of designer, name brand and vintage clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories all below consignment-store prices. Featured designer labels include St. John, Prada, Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, BCBG, Yves Saint Laurent and Cole Haan. Come to the preview sale on Friday and get first access to the sale plus complimentary refreshments while you shop.
  • Cost: The preview sale on Friday has a $35 donation entry fee. The public sale on Saturday includes free admission. All proceeds benefit the YWCA Clothing Services programs.

 

  • Where/When: 6-10 p.m. Fri, Oct. 14 at the .
  • Why Go: High fashion comes to Bellevue at the 2011 Bellevue Club Fashion Show, "Couture du Jour" this Friday night. Sip cocktails, mingle with models and check out the latest in everything from swimwear to evening wear, at this show featuring local boutiques and designers.
  • Cost: Tickets are $75. Proceeds from the show benefit Overlake Hospital.

 

  • Where/When: 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at .
  • Why Go: Join Molbak's for the opening weekend of their beloved fall play. This year's play is Rapunzel, a delightful and humorous production perfect for elementary-aged children and adults alike. Each performance is 45 minutes long. Get your spot early, seating is first come, first served and space is limited. 
  • Cost: Admission is free. Please consider making a monetary donation to benefit the Northshore Wranglers-to-Camp program.

 

  • Where/When: 2:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Sat, Oct. 15 at .
  • Why Go: Join GoGirlGo! Seattle and the City of Redmond for a screening of Finding Kind, a documentary on the effects of bullying in the female world. Because of the strong subject matter, the screening is recommended for parents and daughters (ages 10 and up). Check out this trailer for the film now, so you'll know what you're in for.
  • Cost: $11.50, purchase your tickets here.

 

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. Sat, Oct. 15 at the Hazel Wolf Wetlands.
  • Why Go: Anyone interested in learning about history and the environment can join Sammamish Walks this Saturday for a guided tour of the area. The focus of this 1.2 mile walk will be plants and wildlife. Feel free to bring your cameras and binoculars. Sorry, no dogs.
  • Pricing: The walk is free, just sign up in advance.
