Handful of Luvin' at Marina Park; Chamber Business After Hours

Things you might want to know today, Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011.

  • This morning’s sunrise is at 6:09 a.m. and tonight’s sunset is at 8:16 p.m.
  • The Junior Softball World Series continues at from noon until dark. Admission is free -- and four U.S. teams, including the Bellevue/Mercer Island squad, are in the top tier so far.
  • The Kirkland Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Business After Hours networking function, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the in Bridle Trails. Mingle outdoors with local business owners, professionals and patrons while enjoying delicious fares from Sasi’s Café. This event is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.
  • Get ready for a rockin’ good time with Handful of Luvin’ at this evening at 7 p.m. This Seattle-based rock quartet boasts an eclectic folky-rock sound complimented by the scintillating electric violin. They’ve also shared the stage with notable bands such as Phish, Carbon Leaf and the Young Dubliners. This feel-good show is a part of the Kirkland Summer Concert Series, from July 5 to Aug. 25.
