Hey Parents, How Do You Relax at Home With the Kids Around?

We want to hear from you and generate some useful discussion about parenting.

Kirkland Moms and Dads, let’s talk!

This week, as I wrote about low-energy ideas for getting out of the house, I began thinking about how hard it is as a parent to get some rest and relaxation when you’re home with the kids. Whether you had a bad night of sleep, are under the weather, or you’re just having one of those days, it can be a challenge to chill and take care of yourself.

While we don’t watch much TV in our house, I find that one of the ways I carve out some chill time is by watching a movie with my preschooler. Other times, I’ll barricade and super-screen our family room/play room for baby-unfriendly objects, then lay on the couch with one eye open while my little ones go to town on the room. Not as good as a nap, but some horizontal time has its benefits when I’m low on energy.
