Junior Softball Title Game; Green Kirkland Volunteer Event

Things you might want to know today, Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011.

  • This morning’s sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and tonight’s sunset is at 8:13 p.m.
  • Load up with blankets, chairs and whatever else you need to cozy up at for Outdoor Movie Night. The DreamWorks animated feature “How to Train Your Dragon” will start at dusk. This family-friendly event seeks only a minimum $5 donation to Hopelink, a local organization benefiting the homeless and others in need.
  • The Green Kirkland Partnership is holding a volunteer event at today from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers are needed to assist in restoring and sustaining the park's natural area. Bring sturdy shoes, gloves and water and prepare to get your hands dirty for the worthwhile cause of keeping Kirkland beautiful. For more information, contact carolleepower@yahoo.com.
  • The week-long tournament of premier athletes that is the Junior Softball World Series culminates today in the championship game today at 2 p.m. at . Can’t make it to the field? ESPN will feature a nationally televised, live broadcast of the game.
