Kirkland Student in Running for Miss Teen Washington

Elizabeth McCumber is a student at International Community School, plans to become a pediatric nurse and is also in the running, for Most Photogenic.

 

Being crowned Miss Teen Washington and Miss Teen USA isn’t just about the crown—this year, over $900,000 in scholarships will be given to deserving young women. This year’s contestants for Miss Teen Washington are from all over the state-- including Kirkland.

Elizabeth McCumber is a 17-year-old junior at Kirkland’s International Community School student and is in the running for Miss Teen USA, as well as Most Photogenic. A member of the Kirkland Kiwanis Key Club, she plans to go to nursing school and become a pediatric transplant nurse. She’s been dancing since she was 3 and also hopes to become an NFL cheerleader.

This year’s pageant will showcase contestants from all across the state of Washington, providing them with nearly $900,000 in prizes, scholarships, cash and life-changing opportunities. The Miss Washington USA and Miss Washington Teen USA pageants will be held this weekend, Oct. 20 – 21 in the Seattle area.

The Miss Teen titleholder (contestants are between 14-18 years old,) will go on to compete for the title of Miss Teen USA and the adult Miss titleholder (contestants between 18-26 years old) will compete live on NBC for the Miss USA title. That winner will then compete for Miss Universe.
