Things you might want to know today, Wednesday, June 29, 2011

  • The sunrise is at 5:14 a.m. and the sunset at 9:11 p.m. -- we've lost only three minutes of daylight since the solstice eight days ago, all in the morning, meaning the sunset has been at 9:11 p.m. for more than a week.
  • The Kirkland Wednesday Market is open from 2-7 p.m. on Park Lane downtown, and we hear local produce such as strawberries, kale, onions, baby carrots, peas and pea pods should be arriving.
  • The Seattle Seafair Pirates will invade and entertain the monthly meeting of Kirkland Heritage Society, 7 p.m., at  on Market St. The volunteer pirates, formed in 1949, help out withe Seattle Seafair and raise funds for charity.
