MLK Day: What's Open and Closed in Kirkland

Monday is the federal holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Here's a look at what's open and closed Monday, Jan. 21, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday.

If you are traveling, check out the Washington State Department of Transportation web pages to plan your route. Be sure to check traffic and weather conditions along Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass, U.S. 2 at Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 near the U.S./Canadian border and I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma.

Kirkland City Hall will be closed Monday.

Lake Washington School District will be closed.

Most retail stores are open.

King County government will be closed.

U.S. Postal Service: Closed.

King County Library System is closed.

King County Metro transit: Reduced weekday service. Details are available here.

Sound Transit: Express buses and Sounder trains will operate on a weekday schedule. Tacoma Link will run on a Sunday schedule. Central Link will run on a Saturday schedule. Details are available here.

State of Washington: Closed.

Washington State Ferries: Routes will operate on a normal weekday schedule

Federal government: Closed.

Banks: Many, if not most, will be closed. Check your local branch.
