Mukilteo Woman Dies From Injuries Suffered in Crash During Police Chase

Rachael Kamin, 40, suffered severe head injuries when her car was hit in Everett by a stolen pickup truck during a police chase that began Sunday night in Bothell.

A nurse from Mukilteo has died from severe head injuries she suffered when her car was when hit by a stolen pickup truck being pursued by police in a chase that began in Bothell Sunday night, reports KOMO News.

Rachael Kamin, 40, was on her way to work at Providence Medical Center in Everett when a truck being driven by a longtime car thief allegedly smashed into her car, pushing it into a gas main, which ruptured.

The Everett Herald described Kamin as a mother of two teenage boys who was dedicated to her family. She had been in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle since the crash in downtown Everett and died sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the stolen pickup has been identified as 33-year-old Joseph Strange of Seattle, who remains in custody and has a long history of stealing cars and running from police. Everett police say he will likely face multiple felony charges.

The chase began in the Canyon Park area north of Woodinville when Bothell Police spotted the pickup truck and pursued it north on Interstate 405. Bothell Police broke off the chase at Interstate 5, but it was picked up by Everett police and at times hit speeds of 95 mph.For the KOMO story, click here.
