New Year's Day: What's Open, What's Closed in Kirkland

Many government offices and businesses will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Happy New Year! Here is a list of what’s open and what's closed for the holiday.

  • United States Postal Service: closed Tuesday. No mail delivery that day.
  • Library: All King County libraries will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1. They will be open normal hours on Wednesday
  • Kirkland City Hall: Closed Tuesday.
  • Schools: The Lake Washington School District is on winter break. Classes resume Wednesday.
  • Banks: Virtually all banks are closed New Year's Day.
  • Garbage and Recycling: Waste Management will not collect on New Year's Day, your service will be delayed one day. If your collection day comes later in the week after collection has been delayed because of a weekday holiday, your service will also be one day later that week. Details here.
