Viewfinder: Pooches On Parade At Woodmark 'Muttmixer'

The CityDog Magazine Halloween bash for dogs was a yelping success.

Dog breath filled the steamy air inside the Woodmark Hotel's tent normally reserved for lakeside weddings. It was a raucous cacophony of yips, yelps, ruffs and barks, with pups of all shapes and sizes mingling.

More than 120 pet owners RSVP'd for the Howl-At-The-Moon Muttmixer sponsored by CityDog Magazine and held on Tuesday night at the Woodmark Hotel. The Halloween-themed party inspired pets and owners alike to don their scariest (and silliest) costumes in hopes of fetching a prize. It also celebrated the retirement of the hotel's Labradoodle Woody, its longtime "director of guest satisfaction," who will move on to a new home wthe famiy in Renton.

General Manager John Murphy took the opportunity to wish the Woodmark's dog, Woody, a happy retirement.

"We'll miss his sweet disposition and dreamy eyes. He's an adorable dog -- we're going to miss Woody," says Murphy. His favorite memory of Woody is when the dog would come back after a swim in the lake and go crazy rubbing off the water on the lobby couches.

Woody was happy to show off his betrothed -- six-month-old Rosie, the Golden-Doodle whom he will join at his new home in Renton.

The evening concluded when the winners of the costume contest were announced.

  • Best Pack: American Gothic
  • Best Dog/Owner Pair: Shrek and Fiona
  • Funniest: Marilyn Monroe
  • Scariest: Rummy the Mummy
  • Most Original: The Hulk
