Reminder: Fireworks Illegal in "New" Kirkland; Last Day of Free Parking at Saint Ed's, Bridle Trails

  • The sun comes up at 5:15 a.m. and goes down at 9:11 p.m.

  • Beginning tomorrow, you will need a state to park at the Kirkland area's two state parks, and , $30 annually or $10 per day. The Legislature approved the pass as a way to help pay for state recreation lands and deal with budget shortfalls. So today is the last day of free parking at the popular parks.

  • Reminder: Fireworks are now illegal in Kirkland's new neighborhoods of Finn Hill, north Juanita and Kingsgate, officially annexed by the city on June 1. Previously, as unincorporated areas of King County, "safe and sane" fireworks could legally be set off in those areas.
