  • Where/When: 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Fri, Aug. 12 in Downtown Kirkland. For a map of galleries, visit http://www.kirklandartwalk.org.
  • Why Go: The Kirkland Art Walk is a free, self-guided, public art tour throughout the local galleries in downtown Kirkland. This month's edition of the KAW features the Young Artist Series. Each gallery will showcase local teen artists from the Eastside. So get outside and enjoy the weather, the exercise, and of course, the art.
  • Cost: Free.

  • Where/When: 6-9 p.m. Fri, Aug. 12 at .
  • Why Go: You may have seen the new sculptural work on display at the Parklane Galley. Here's your chance to meet the artists behind these stunning pieces. Barbara Hennig and Elaine Moore will be on site at Parklane Gallery to meet and to answer any questions you may have. Curious about what you'll see?   • Where/When: 9 p.m. Fri, Aug. 12 at in Bellevue.
  • Why Go: Looking for new way to start off your weekend this Friday night? Try stopping by McCormick & Schmicks for some great food and even better Jazz. Deems Tsutakawa will be pumping out his jazzy tunes all night long. There's even late night happy hour specials to be taken advantage of! Check out the happy hour menu here.

  • Where/When: 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sat, Aug. 13 at Molbak's in Woodinville.
  • Why Go: Calling all rose enthusiasts! Molbak's is hosting the Seattle Rose Society's Public Rose Show this Saturday. The show is open to the public and is a great opportunity for gardeners of all skill levels to display their blooms in a judged competition. A vase and name tag for each rose entered will be provided. All you need to provide is the rose! Interested in participating? Check out the categories and prizes here.    
  • Cost: Free.

 

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Sat, Aug. 13 at .
  • Why Go: Join botanist Clay Antieau for a nature walk through Bridle Trails State Park. During the walk you'll see some rare and unusual species, as well as learn about the natural history of the park and how to identify plants the native plants.
  • Cost: Free.

 

Sammamish Days Community Celebration

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sat, Aug 13 at Sammamish Commons.
  • Why Go: Come celebrate with friends, family, neighbors and classmates at the city's annual summer festival. The event will be full of music, food vendors, arts and crafts specialists, display booths, live entertainment. The celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. with a grand parade featuring kids from the Sammamish area. Be sure to stop by the Patch booth to pick up some Patch swag and say hi!
  • Cost: Free. Registration is required for a child to participate in the parade.

 

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sat, Aug 13 at .
  • Why Go: Dealing with plant or garden drama? Don't give up just yet, visit Windmill Gardens and see if one of the WSU King County Master Gardeners can help figure out what you need to do at this free weekly gardening clinic. Feel free to bring along plant samples to be identified or diagnosed.
  • Cost: Free.

 

  • Where/When: 9:30 a.m. Sun, Aug 14 at .
  • Why Go: Join local Make-a-Wish children and their families as they walk to raise money for the non-profit's Alaska and Washington chapter. The event will include refreshments, children's activities and live entertainment. Participants are encouraged to collect donations, and the top fundraisers will win a seven-day Caribbean cruise. Can't make it on Sunday? Try the on Saturday also at Marymoor Park.
  • Cost: Registration is $40.

 

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. Sun, Aug 14 at .
  • Why Go: Love yourself some Abba? Then you'll go crazy for Arrival From Sweden this Sunday at Marymoor Park. The production will feature all of your favorites songs from Abba plus a few surprises. This tribute is probably the closest you'll ever get to actually seeing Abba in person, the musicians will even be sporting the original Abba costumes. The concert is also taking place in one of the best venues around, Marymoor Park. Tons of space, great acoustics and even a beer garden for the husband's who got dragged to the show.   • Cost: Tickets range between $26 and $62.

 

  • Where/When: 8:30 a.m. Sun, Aug. 14 at .
  • Why Go: Thirty locations are circled on a map. On foot or bike, how many can you visit in 90 minutes? In 3 hours? Score points by visiting checkpoints in any order, and answer a simple question to prove you were there. Those who visit the most are the winners! Be competitive or casual. Go in a team or solo. This event is for families, runners, cyclists, and anyone who likes to explore. Awards and refreshments will be waiting at the finish.
  • Cost: $20 for adults, $10 for youths, and   $5 for children (12 and under).
