It's going to be a bustling weekend with great activities for family fun in and around Kirkland.

  • Where/When: 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. Fri, July 22 at  in Kirkland. 
  • Why Go: Make it out to the Juanita Friday Market and pick up all your favorite locally grown fruits, vegetables, beautiful flowers, honey products, breads, and other tasty treats. And, while you shop, you'll get enjoy the live music and performances going on all day.
  • Price: Admission is free.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, at 401 Parkplace Ctr.
  • Why Go: This health fair features a lot of free activities and events (you had us at free massages!) including showings of the movies Fern Gully and Food Inc.Joel Salatin from the movie Food Inc. will be mingling at the fair and will give a lecture from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the
  • Cost: Most events are free, but the lecture by Salatin costs $35. Get more info at the event's website.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at , 9703 NE Juanita Dr.
  • Why Go:  If you love pooches, this is a fun way to get out with your best friend(s) and have a fun family day. Festival vendors will display the latest in canine attire, safety gadgets, healthy food, canine clubs, and adoptable pets. Grab lunch for the family from one of food vendors then stop by the KDOG Photo Booth for a souvenir photo.
  • Cost: Entrance is free, but you are encouraged to bring cash for purchasing food or items for your loyal pets. Registration for the Dog Walk is $20 per family.

First-Annual Lamb Kabob-Off

  • Where/When: Noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at  in Redmond
  • Why Go: Cooking competitions might be fun to watch, but they're even better when the observers get to be the judges. This Sunday Redmond butcher Scott Molyneaux of Bill the Butcher will face off against Liam Spence, executive chef of Lola and the 2011 Seattle Lambassador Chef, in a lamb kabob-making competition. The grill will be fired up at noon, with judging taking place between 4 and 6 p.m. Sliders and other snacks will also be served throughout the afternoon.
  • Pricing: Donations will be accepted for the Experience Talent Camp for Kids

2011 Sandblast Festival 

  • Where/When: 9 a.m., Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24 at McCormick Park, 11190 NE 12th St, Bellevue
  • Why Go: The annual Sandblast Festival held at McCormick Park on the shore of the historic and beautiful Snoqualmie River suggests that you “Get Your Funk On!” this year. The main goal of the festival is to celebrate the arts and introduce and promote local and regional artists and art organizations who produce professional and community sand sculptures.
  • Cost: Admission is free.
