Encouraging Example of Civility

Wednesday afternoon, union members held a rally at the east end of Kirkland’s Heritage Park in support of closing tax loop holes, funding what they believe are essential services, and completing work on the budget.  At the same time, supporters of Sen. Andy Hill, whose district includes Kirkland, held a counter demonstration.

I watched and listened for about 45 minutes and was most impressed with the civility between the two groups.  While standing back to back along the west side of Market Street, both groups remained civil and carried out their mission without allowing tempers to fray or harsh words to be exchanged.

It was an encouraging example of civility by two rather significantly different political philosophies and supporters.
