It's Kirkland vs. Redmond in Final of March Can Drive

Kirkland's Guild Mortgage is facing two-time defending champion Hancock Bakery of Redmond in the finals of the drive to stock Hopelink food banks.

 

Kirkland’s has reached the final round of ’s March Can Drive and is facing long odds against two-time defending champion Hancock Bakery of Redmond.

The bakery brought in 2,343 pounds of food last week and $112 for a contest total of 695 points. Guild Mortgage brought in 1,298 pounds for 198 points.

“We need to rally Kirkland businesses and neighbors this week,” said Ben Wobker of downtown, who came up with the idea of the drive to help stock Hopelink’s food banks. “We need Kirkland residents to drop off food to Guild so that Kirkland can bring home the trophy."

Donations can be dropped off directly at Hopelink in the name of Guild, at Lake Washington Physical Therapy, or at Guild Mortgage (720 4th Ave).

The previous week Guild Mortgage had knocked off rival to advance to the final four ofHopelink’s third annual competition, patterned after the national spring college basketball tournament, matching businesses in weekly contests to see which one can bring in the most food.
