UPDATE: Kirkland Power Restored After Crews Repair Cable Chewed by Rodent
The outage Wednesday morning affected about 1,100 homes and businesses in downtown Kirkland and surrounding neighborhoods.
UPDATE, 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3: Puget Sound Energy crews found that a rodent had chewed on underground cables, causing a power outage Wednesday morning in downtown Kirkland and parts of surrounding neighborhoods. The cables were repaired and all power was restored by 8:33 a.m., said PSE spokeswoman Dorothy Bracken.

Puget Sound Energy crews were searching for the cause of a power outage Wednesday morning affecting about 1,100 homes and businesses in at least part of downtown Kirkland and the Norkirk neighborhood.
“PSE service personnel are en route,” Dorothy Bracken, a PSE spokeswoman, said Wedneday at about 7:40 a.m. “They’ll be looking for what’s causing the outage, patrolling the power lines.”
The outage is affecting at least parts of downtown Kirkland and the Norkirk neighborhood. Bracken said the outage is somewhere on lines connected to a PSE substation on 7th Avenue North, near downtown.
Bracken said PSE hopes to have all power restored by 9 a.m., depending on the severity of the cause of the outage.
