Hunter Has an Amazing Spirit Despite His Amazing Past

When we first met Hunter, his amber eyes were barely visible, squinting through his swollen lids.

LAP CAT ALERT!  If you look up the phrase “lap cat” you will see a picture of Hunter.  This boy has it all. He is as sweet as can be and loves nothing more than snuggling up next to you and showing you just how much love he can give. He’s gentle and very attentive. He has a loud rumbly purr that he’s not afraid to use to let you know he is so content. When we first met Hunter, his amber eyes were barely visible, squinting through his swollen lids. He had lived his first five years of life outdoors-- exposed to the dangers of life in the wild. One of his inner eyelids was torn, likely the result of trauma such as an animal attack. To make matters worse, Hunter also had a congenital condition in both eyes that was very painful.  But even though he must have been in pain, Hunter really appreciated the kindness from his first real caregivers, relaxing under their gentle touch and rewarding them with purrs and soft chortles. He has had the surgery to repair his eyes and although his eyes may never look “normal” he does have vision and isn’t in any pain.

We believe Hunter will spend the rest of his life showering his lucky family with “Hunter love”, basking in the warmth of that love returned, and not spending a second thought on how his life used to be. He has no interest in being outside and would love nothing more than to curl up with you wherever you sit.  If he can’t find you in the house, he will send out soft chirps to see where you are and when you call out, he will come running.  He is ready for a new start with a family that thinks he’s perfect, just as he is. Hunter would love to be your center of attention but he would also enjoy sharing his affection and playfulness with another young kitty.  Hunter is currently in foster care, soaking up as much attention as he can get. If you'd like to meet him, please call the shelter and arrange a "get to know you, get to love you" visit. Get a sneak peak at Hunter—Warning:  He may steal your heart!
