MEOW Cat Rescue - All Nine Lives Are Precious

Good things come in furry packages!

MANY YEARS AGO, before became a registered non-profit animal rescue charity, they coined a phrase and adopted a motto to underscore their beliefs: “…all nine lives are precious.”

Since its creation, this motto has been a visible element of their logo.  Its message is woven into their mission statement and is engraved on the hearts of their volunteers and supporters.  The words are as quiet and delicate as a kitten’s purr, yet the commitment implied could not be stronger: All nine lives are precious.

MEOW Cat Rescue remains committed to their no-nonsense, no-holds-barred, no-kill policy. They continue to ask that people return MEOW cats to them if they are no longer able to care for them.  With each passing year, the potential for return grows. This has been a difficult one from that perspective. MEOW has had cats returned for countless reasons.

It doesn’t really matter why.  What does matter is that they still believe these cats have a right to live and a right to a loving home.  They still believe in their responsibility to provide them that opportunity.  They made a promise to them, whether it was yesterday or ten years ago; once they became a part of the MEOW family, they were safe.  They said it then, they meant it then, and they still believe it now…all nine lives are precious.

MEOW does not turn away from the severely injured or ill, the special needs cats and kittens.  Admittedly, the cost of caring for them is higher, but the rewards are so very great, particularly for those animals whose chances are limited elsewhere and for the people who will eventually love them for the rest of their lives.  There is no shortage of happy endings that bring tears to one’s eyes each time they are told…all nine lives are precious.

“Rescue animals are not broken, they’ve simply experienced more life than other animals.  If they were human, we would call them wise.  They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write, the ones dealt a bad hand, who responded with courage.  Don’t pity them. Do something. Help to rescue. Donate. Volunteer.  Foster.  Adopt.  And be proud to have their greatness by your side.”
