Pets of the Week: Shar and Bunny, Vision-Impaired But Perfect in Our Eyes

They can be found lounging in their hammock, cradled so sweetly in the bright sunshine – just waiting for that special someone to come along.

is proud to introduce Bunny and Shar, two kittens that are sisters, soulmates, a bonded pair and need to be adopted together.  They are six months old and have so much love for one another.

Bunny and Shar are just two of many cats and kittens who were rescued from a hoarding situation. They are now safe at the Houghton shelter and need a good home.  Bunny is snow white with gray patches and Shar is a beautiful, soft gray.  Both are luxuriously soft and snuggly.

Bunny had a severe eye infection that eventually caused her left eye to rupture.  What remained of the eye was removed by Northwest Animal Eye Specialists.  Her right eye has also suffered from this untreated eye infection resulting in corneal scarring.  It is believed that she is essentially blind in this eye but may see some shadow and light.

Shar had conjunctival adhesions at the time of the rescue which have caused permanent corneal cloudiness.  She has no discomfort and does not require surgery.  Her vision appears to be very good.

In our eyes, both kittens are perfect.  Neither require special treatment or medication.  Bunny uses her nose and whiskers to explore her surroundings.  In her foster home, she quickly mastered the ability to accurately gauge exactly how high the couch was, where the doorways were and had no problem finding the litterbox or food dish!  She likes toys that make noise so she can more easily track their location.  Both of these beautiful girls love belly rubs and like to check out humans by giving them soft face rubs and sniffs.

They have supreme real estate at MEOW – very near the doors and large window of the lobby area, where the sun streams in on bright winter days.  They can be found lounging in their hammock, cradled so sweetly in the bright sunshine – just waiting for that special someone to come along.
