Bell-Kirk All-Stars win first game 11-0

Outstanding Bell-Kirk pitching results in rare perfect game, fifteen batters retired in a row.

Pitcher Maria Smith of Bellevue was perfect through four innings as her strong delivery combined with great defense shut down the Issaquah-Fall City-Sammamish offense in order, 12 straight outs Saturday at Everest Park in Kirkland.

Bellevue pitcher Nikki Kerns-Kovac was also perfect in relief and the game ended 11-0 after 5 innings.

Alex Golitz of Kirkland saw lots of action at first base on defense catching two infield fly balls and recording 3 unassisted outs.

The Bell-Kirk offense was on fire scoring five runs in the first inning with every player contributing throughout the game.

The other winning team from the early game Saturday was the ‘Thin Mints,’ made up of all-star players from the Bellevue Thunderbirds, Bellevue West, and Mercer Island little leagues.

The action continues at 3pm Sunday afternoon at Everest Park in Kirkland.  Both of these teams are now just two wins away from representing District 9 as the host team in the Junior Softball World Series in August.

Little league games are wonderful family entertainment on a summer afternoon, admission is free, come on out to the ballpark and cheer for our all-stars.
