Local Cadet Completes First Solo Flight

Seventeen-year-old cadet enjoys her first solo flight.

Cadet 2d Lt. Emma Davis of the Redmond-based Overlake Composite Squadron flew solo today in a Civil Air Patrol (CAP) glider for the first time.

Cadet Davis is among 25 CAP cadets from across the state attending Desert Eagle VIII, the annual CAP flight encampment held in Ephrata, WA.Β

Tradition dictates that the new pilot gets a good soaking from the other members of her flight, a welcome treat on a day when the temperatures reached 90 degrees.
